چکیده

In order to maximize the Common Operational Picture, interactive displays of large-scale complex computerrendered environments must allow for effective navigational techniques. This is no small challenge, given the current state of virtual environment technology, 3D input devices, and limited knowledge regarding human factors-based best practices for human way-finding and navigation. In theory, integrating 3D computer renderings of the real world allows command personnel to plan and simulate battlespace tactics from the perspective of both ground and air. However, change in viewpoints without proper reference points or landmarks can lead to disorientation for the human user. Human factors issues pertaining to navigation in virtual environments and the need to extend the scientific knowledge base concerning ways of effectively improving human navigation in complex or landmark-sparse environments are discussed. In addition, conceptual designs for virtual trailblazing techniques are proposed.

Multiring Techniques for Scalable

Network-centric warfare must leverage off a common network to support different purposes. While group communications based on a single virtual ring overlay may satisfy the most important requirements for survivability and security, scalability may force redesign because a single ring generally has higher delay and delay jitter. In order to provide scalability as the number of group members grow...

Visualizing Software in Virtual Reality

Software visualisations of one form or another appear in numerous software maintenance tools. Visualisation is arguably one of the most profitable means of communicating information to a user. As software systems become larger and more complex we find ourselves in greater need for techniques to visualise such large information structures. This paper concentrates on visualising software systems ...

Towards the Development of Environments for Designing Visualisation Support for Visual Data Mining

The design of consistent information visualisation models is a key component in the development of visual data mining methods. However, it is a challenging activity to find the methods, techniques and corresponding tools that are suitable for specific visual mining task, or a particular type of data. The comparison of visualisation techniques across different designs is not a trivial problem. T...

Virtual Network Representations of Information Warfare Battlespace

Virtual network methodologies are applied to information warfare (IW) simulation in which objects and agents behave with special relationships. Decision makers operate in a virtual battlespace, which is in essence an information cyberspace in which IW attacks damage assessments, countermeasure efforts, and repairs are interrelated through virtual networks. The virtual network representation is ...

Designing a new robust control for virtual inertia control in the microgrid with regard to virtual damping

Background and Objectives: Virtual inertia control, as a component of a virtual synchronous generator, is used for the implementation of synchronous generator behaviour in microgrids. In microgrids that include high-capacity distributed generation resources, in addition to virtual inertia, virtual damping can also lead to improvement of frequency stability of the microgrid. The purpose of the c...
